FTMA Safety First covers a wide range of WHS and Industrial Relations fact sheets on issues that are critical to your businesses survival.
Builders, it seems, are pushing the envelope on everything from price, to delivery practices and now are wanting fabricators to take on responsibility for fall protection for windows within your frames on the second story and above.
Is this the responsibility of the fabricator?
FTMA Australia believes if a fabricator is asked to provide this as part of the quoting process, then include a piece of timber to block the windows and door openings as directed by the builder at their cost and their responsibility.

If you have any further questions on this please call me on 0418 226 242, otherwise we strongly urge all fabricators, members or not, to make sure they put measures in place to ensure they are not held liable for issues they are not responsible for.
Upcoming editions of FTMA Safety First will focus on Delivery to Top Plate and Drug & Alcohol Policies. If you have any further suggestions for this segment, please email editor@ftmanews.com
