The structural landscape of Australia’s frame and truss industry is constantly evolving, shaped by shifting market demands, technological advancements, and an urgent need to address sustainability and skilled labour shortages.
To effectively assess and adapt to these changes, the Frame and Truss Manufacturers Association of Australia (FTMA) is spearheading the 2025 National Fabricator Census. This significant initiative aims to create a blueprint for strengthening the fabric of our manufacturing sector while addressing the unique challenges faced by fabricators across Australia.
The primary purpose behind conducting this census is to collect actionable data that genuinely represents the voices of fabricators nationwide. Over the years, the FTMA has demonstrated a commitment to building an industry that thrives on collaboration and innovation. The census is a continuation of this mission – a tool for empowering stakeholders to make informed, forward-thinking decisions rooted in real-world insight.
By understanding current industry needs, trends, and pressures, FTMA seeks to support fabricators in building resilience, identifying opportunities for growth, and facilitating long-term stability.

To ensure the credibility and accuracy of the collected data, FTMA has once again partnered with WebSurvey, a respected third-party professional adept at conducting nuanced, comprehensive industry surveys. Leveraging their expertise enables FTMA to gather data with precision and integrity while minimising potential biases. This partnership ensures that the census results will provide clarity and specificity, equipping industry stakeholders with robust data to address everything from labour shortages to emerging market demands head-on.
A key component of the census’ success is the guaranteed confidentiality of all respondents.
FTMA understands the sensitive nature of the information being collected – from production capacities to labour force particulars – and has established stringent measures to ensure complete anonymity and security of all data. This promise of confidentiality encourages participation and assures businesses that their proprietary information will not be compromised or shared beyond aggregate insights.
Participation in the 2025 National Fabricator Census is not merely valuable—it’s imperative. Every fabricator’s voice matters, regardless of their business size or geographical location. Greater participation will ensure the census captures an accurate portrait of the fabricator landscape, enabling more inclusive strategies and solutions. It is vital that every stakeholder understands the role they play in shaping the future direction of the industry.
The 2025 National Fabricator Census is not just about gathering data—it’s a crucial step toward building a stronger, more united industry. By participating, we can foster collaboration, drive innovation, and address the challenges we face as a sector. Together, we have the chance to shape a future that supports growth, resilience, and success for all fabricators in Australia.
Finally, we ask fabricators to complete the census by Friday 16 May 2025.
