Many of Australia’s frame and truss fabricators will be familiar with the name Michael Weinig, their range of OptiCut cross-cut saws and possibly be using them in plants. But what they might now know is that Weinig Australia have recently come onboard as an FTMA Supporting Partner, and are now supplying specific frame and truss machinery to the market.
Weinig was founded in Germany, in 1905 by Michael Weinig. In the mid to late 1940’s under Bertold Weinig, the company began manufacturing woodworking machinery. Since that time, the group has expanded, become a global stronghold, and is synonymous with ingenuity, quality, and expertise. Weinig established their Australian base in the mid 90s, with the head office in Sydney, and a second show room in Melbourne.
Markus Ostermaier, Managing Director of Michael Weinig Australia, is promoting the new machinery and availability in Australia, specific for the frame and truss industry. With Weinig’s collaboration and partnership with Italian company, Essetre, it sets to provide specialised machinery for the Australian market. The Weinig Australia Essetre Techno Saw, is newly available for the Australian frame and truss sector.
“It’s good to get the name out, let people know we are here, that we have interesting products… we have a big machine range and some will already have our saws,” said Markus, as he talked about the expansions Weinig and Essetre are bringing to Australia.
What Weinig are specialised in, is their range of OptiCut saws, but haven’t previously supplied machinery that would exclusively suit framing. But that is coming now. With a new supplier they have 5 axis machines, and are already marketing them in Australia.
Weinig regularly display at trade shows, and the illustrious LIGNA – the ‘world market place of innovations for the wood industry.’ The next LIGNA, 2025, is a special one – the 50th anniversary of the notorious woodworking community trades fair – and Weinig will definitely be there. In fact, they are making the most of the networking opportunities, by adding a few days of touring to the journey. As part of the Weinig tour, they are opening up the invitation to clients to join them. The expedition will start in Italy, at Essetre, for a factory visit. It’s part of a unique opportunity to engage with others in the industry and gain valuable insights into the production of Weinig and Essetre machinery – a chance to connect with a passionate team developing state of the art technology.
FTMA welcome the inclusion and supporting partnership of Weinig Australia. Our association prides itself in keeping connections strong within the frame and truss industry and stakeholder engagement and affiliations are key to our industry’s progressive future. Welcome to Weinig Australia, as an FTMA Supporting Partner.
