Vida Wood Australia source 90% of their raw material from Sweden, the home of their sawmills. Sweden consists of 70% forest, half of which is owned by private forest owners. Being a forest owner in Sweden has a long tradition that stretches back to the beginning of the 19th century. Today there are over 300,000 proud private forest owners in Sweden of which Vida has a close and securred relationship with.
At Vida Sweden, everyday, at least 480 semi trailers roll into our 12 sawmills, regardless of whether elements, it’s boom or bust. Hence for Vida Sweden, it is crucial to have a solid relationship with forest owners and to be the given choice of partner when it comes to forestry measures. Every year there are many loggings that take place in Sweden, and according to the Swedish Forestry Act, two new trees need to be planted for every one that is harvested. This is the very reason why we have more trees in Sweden today than a hundred years ago. In Sweden, we have found a sustainable way to continuously harvest our forest raw material to build houses and make other products out of wood, and at the same time take responsibility for future generations being able to do the same.
From the local know-how in Hestra, Tranemo, Nössemark and Hästveda, among others, we supply markets all over the world with premium Swedish forest raw materials. Vida has a well-developed logistics chain with its own warehouses in the UK, USA and Australia.
Since 2019, the Canadian listed company Canfor owns 70% of Vida. Together with Canfor, Vida is one of the three largest suppliers in the world of sawn wood products.
