Well we’re not going to send out cheques or deposit funds into your account – because we can make your business even better off than that.
Doesn’t matter whether you are a small or large fabricator, a linear saw is a big investment. But we’re reminded of the old saying – ‘It’s not what you have, it’s what you do with it’.
When roof components are cut on the saw, there will be a lot of short pieces that usually have more cuts each piece than the average. On a production volume basis – shorter pieces with more cuts are costing much more than long pieces that have fewer cuts.
The good news is you don’t have to cut all those high cost short pieces because you can buy them already cut and ready to go straight to the jig.
The last thing you want to hear coming from the floor is – ‘I haven’t finished cutting all the pieces I have to because I’ve been too busy cutting all the ones I don’t have to’.
The numbers have been done – and there’s a production model we can show you. It clearly shows if you only just replace half of your webs with pre-cuts you could pay for the cost of the saw through better productive output – longer average length and less cuts per piece equals money in the bank.
But wait there’s more. How many double mitres are being cut on the saw? Doesn’t matter how fancy the saw is – again they will be short and slow to cut. Replace them with pre-cut creeper chords and now you’re relieved from another productivity killer.
It only gets better, how about taking out valley truss chords – especially for the little trusses at the top. More short bits out of the equation.
I know, you’ll ask about timber optimisation – taking short bits out will leave less cutting options and therefore more waste. There are still plenty of short bits you do need to cut so it doesn’t add to any considerable extent the usual practice of cutting (slowly) good high priced timber into nogs/trimmers and junction blocks thought to be justified as recovery.
Greater MGP length options at the front of the saw is where there are good savings as the less low value and ‘able to be bought in things’ like nogs, trimmers, under/overs, junction blocks, the better off you are.
Utilising Programmed Timber’s pre-cut componentry to boost your linear saw’s productive output can save more money than the saw is costing. Even if you use the saw less for the same number of jobs.
Haven’t even mentioned the additional production capacity you just gained.
A free saw is almost as good as free wood but not better than free beer (maybe).
