As the Frame & Truss National Safety Council (FTNSC) embraces a new chapter with Andrew Kidd as its Chair, we are not just gaining a leader, but a passionate advocate for safety within our industry. Andrew’s extensive background, spanning over more than two decades at Dahlsens, underlines the dedication he has shown towards fostering a safe working environment. His expertise uniquely positions him to lead the council into a future where safety protocols evolve to meet the industry’s growing demands.
Andrew’s journey began with his service in the Army, where he honed his skills in leadership and operational safety. This foundational experience has transferred seamlessly to his roles in the civilian sector, where he has made significant strides in safety management. His work in varied roles—ranging from Transport & Warehouse Manager to Safety Manager—equips him with a holistic understanding of the complexities that frame and truss operations encompass.
The accolades from colleagues and members of the FTMA community speak volumes about Andrew’s character and capabilities. Andrew’s competence and his unwavering support during challenging situations is exactly what our members need, providing support, particularly in times of distress, is an invaluable trait that will serve the FTNSC and FTMA members exceptionally well.
With meetings already being organised with various WorkSafe authorities throughout the country, it’s clear that Andrew’s leadership will usher in a proactive approach to tackling workplace safety challenges. His vision includes implementing effective safety initiatives tailored to the specific needs of the frame and truss sector, all while nurturing a culture of safety among our members.
Moreover, Andrew’s qualifications—including a Diploma of Work Health and Safety and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment—demonstrate his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
A strong partner in both life and profession, Andrew’s wife, Sue, has played a crucial role in his journey. They have lived in Olinda for nearly 40 years, and have three adult daughters, who still live at home, so Andrew will have no issues dealing with Kersten always having an opinion.
Outside of work, Andrew has a passion for old cars and trucks, and loves riding his motorbike, so don’t be alarmed when you see him rock up on his Harley to your plant. He’s just a gentle bikie at heart!
Andrew appointment is a pivotal moment for the Frame & Truss National Safety Council. Together, with the support of the FTMA members and Andrew’s leadership, we can ensure that safety remains at the forefront of our industry for years to come.
Welcome aboard, Andrew! We are thrilled to have you leading us on this important journey.
