MB Prefab was established by Clive Martella Senior and Eric Brew on the 5th September 1977 in Geelong with Clive’s son and son in law, Clive & Doug taking over the business in the late 1980’s.

They were the perfect business partners as up until the day our beloved Clive passed away in 2016, Doug and Clive had never had a fight or argument.  They were not just business partners and brother in laws but also great mates.

Now the next journey for MB Prefab has commenced after the Big River Group purchasing the business with the settlement being 1st December 2018.

MB Prefab will continue to operate in the same way as it does now, with the staff being retained and Doug Maxwell will maintain an operational role in the business.

Big River Group is a publicly owned company, having listed on the ASX in May 2017, after over 120 years history as a family business in the timber and building supply industries. The company operates plywood and hardwood flooring manufacturing plants in Grafton NSW, a plywood plant at Wagga Wagga in NSW as well as formwork steel rolling lines at both the Grafton and Wagga Wagga manufacturing sites.

The company also has distribution businesses in Townsville, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Illawarra, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. The business also has a long history of exporting specialist formwork and hardwood flooring products to many parts of the world. The addition of this Geelong based business continues the national expansion of the Company.
