The FTMA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) for this year was conducted on Tuesday, the 28th of November, via a Teams meeting. While the virtual format could have potentially made our meeting quick and to-the-point, it also provided us with the opportunity to welcome four new members to our board.
Although we are transitioning from a board that has served us well over the past four years, navigating us through challenges such as the pandemic and timber shortage, we are excited about the fresh perspectives and ideas that our new board members bring with them.
I would like to take a moment to pay tribute to two individuals who have been outstanding board members – Andrew Nguyen and Nikita Bourke. Andrew, after serving six dedicated years on the board, has decided to step down from his role. His wisdom and passion for the industry have significantly shaped our strategic decisions, driving us forward in our mission.
Similarly, Nikita, with three years of service under her belt, has also chosen to leave the board. Her enthusiasm, drive, and commitment to the cause have been nothing short of inspiring. On behalf of the entire FTMA community, I extend a heartfelt thank you to both Andrew and Nikita. Their remarkable contributions have left indelible marks and set a high bar for the board members to follow. While we will miss their presence, we know they will also we close by if we need support and the friendships forged on the board will continue into the future.
As we bid adieu to Andrew and Nikita, we are excited to usher in the new. It gives me immense pleasure to welcome our new board members:
- Carly Timperley – East Coast Frame & Truss (QLD)
- Billy Bowley – K&B Timber and Hardware (SA)
- Clinton Wells – Worldwide Truss & Frames (WA), and
- Duncan Bryce – Bunnings (VIC, NSW & QLD).
Each one of them brings their unique expertise and energy to the table, promising to invigorate our board with new ideas and perspectives. As we embrace this change, I am confident that their contributions will usher in a new era of growth and success for FTMA.
They will complement our returning passionate board members including:
- Aaron Hillman – TrussCorp (QLD)
- Arthur Potter – Universal Trusses (ACT)
- Christine Flanagan – Calco Timber & Trusses (VIC)
- Brendan Schneider – Sunbury Wallframes & Truss (VIC)
- Mark Hull – MCM Frames & Trusses (NSW)
- Jamie Dahlsen – Dahlsens Building Centres (VIC, NSW, QLD, NT)
Aaron Hillman, having served admirably as Chair for the past year, has decided to step down from the role. We are grateful for his steadfast leadership and dedication during his tenure. Stepping into this significant role, Brendan Schneider, from Sunbury Wallframes & Truss, will serve as our interim Chair. Brendan’s leadership will be ratified at our first meeting of 2024. We are confident that Brendan’s expertise and understanding of the industry will steer FTMA towards continued success.
As we look back on the year, it’s clear that our accomplishments and growth have been remarkable. I encourage you all to download and read the CEO’s annual report for a comprehensive understanding of our journey over the past year. The report encapsulates our collective achievements, underlining the unwavering commitment we all share for the betterment of this industry.
Reflecting on our journey, I am once again reminded of the incredible support we have received from you all. Your active participation and faith in FTMA’s mission have been the driving forces behind our success. My gratitude goes out to our board, our partners, and most importantly, our members, for their continuous support and trust in us.
We know that we are heading into another challenging year, but we also know that we have the right people and the right attitude to turn these challenges into opportunities. Here’s to another year of shared achievements and success. Thank you for being part of our journey. We look forward to continuing to serve you in the coming year and beyond.
