SHALLOW TRUSS CAMBERS DISAPPEARING INTO THE NIGHT

Deflection issues, on site, from very shallow trusses raise their head on a regular basis despite many past precautionary articles on the subject. This is partly because some architects persist with producing extremely shallow roofs in their drawings, not realising the structural and cost inefficiencies they create. When pushed too far, shallow trusses can  result in unpredictably higher than normal deflections, especially when they are compounded by some poor detailing choices.
