FTMA Australia recently commenced monthly fabricator zoom meetings for each state and territory so members could discuss the issues they are dealing with and outline where they need assistance.

One of those areas was the wording around quotes.  Traditionally it was a 30-day quote but that has gone out the window given fabricators now have lead times of months not weeks.

FTMA Australia has provided members with a free Commercial Credit Application Terms and Conditions of Trade which was developed in conjunction with with Austbrokers Trade Credit and AMPAC Debt Recovery.

We were extremely pleased to learn that this comprehensive document provides everything you need to cover yourself in today’s climate and furthermore we recommend that members not only use this free document, but also include words on quotations such as:

“Please note that the prices quoted are those ruling as at the date of issue of the quotation. These prices are based on rates of freight, insurance, customs duties, exchange, shipping expenses, cartage, cost of materials (and any other charges affecting the cost of production) ruling on the date the quote is made.

Any alterations to the price of the Goods, or to any of their inputs, either before acceptance of or during the currency of the contract are for the Customer’s account and are to be paid for by the Customer.”

The Commercial Credit Application Terms and Conditions of Trade which is available for members for free and is on the members only section of the website where the section under Pricing covers variations in freight, insurance, customs duties, cost of materials and any other charges affecting the cost of production.

If members are not already using this free resource, we encourage you to login to FTMA News Members Only Section and download the Commercial Credit Application Terms and Conditions of Trade template now.
