This comprehensive webinar will provide an in-depth exploration of the engineering and compliance requirements underpinning the assessment, certification, and inspection of timber framing within residential construction. This visual session will allow attendees to work through examples of construction-related issues, offering a practical approach to understanding the technicalities of inspection protocols for timber-framed buildings under construction.

Designed for both new entrants with basic knowledge of building inspection and seasoned professionals seeking a refresher, this training will focus on the specifics of residential timber-framed construction.

Detailed review of the assessment and certification process for timber members under construction, addressing:

  • AS 1684 – Acceptable construction manual, including limitations, bracing, tie-downs, timber specifications, and fitness for purpose.
  • Truss Standards:

AS 1720.5 – Design
AS 4446 – Manufacture
AS 4440 – Installation
AS 4055 – Wind loading for housing

  • Examples of installed trusses that fail to meet these critical standards.
