Well, after 30 years involvement in the greater timber industry engaged in the supply of German and Finnish timber processing and sawmilling machinery, I have accepted a new role principally outside the timber industry, but one that does not preclude me from retaining a keen personal interest and engagement in all things timber.
However, it will reduce that exposure significantly. So a fond “bis bald” or “nähdään pian” to the industry for now, but not a hard full stop.
My most recent work with Hundegger within the frame and truss fabrication area has been particularly rewarding from a personal and professional perspective. In a previous role, I had an “arm’s length relationship” with the frame and truss sector, but the passion, optimism and inclusiveness I have experienced whilst working directly within the industry has been enlightening. Kudos also to Kersten Gentle – particularly for the amazing work of the FTMA over the past two challenging years.
So what’s next..? An area that has always been a passion of mine is condition monitoring, preventative maintenance and facilitating high levels of scheduled up time. This will be my new principal focus. Joining a business that shares my enthusiasm, I am delighted to announce my new role as CEO of Lubrication Engineering Pty Ltd.
I look forward to retaining my connections within the greater timber industry, and also creating new connections in the mining, shipping, food, renewables, and automotive sectors to aid efficiencies and reduce operating costs.”
FTMA Australia wishes Sam all the best for his future and thanks him for his friendship and support over the past decade.
