Steps Towards a Greener Future – Gippsland Forestry Hub’s Upcoming Event

Mark Friday 18th October into your diaries, and head to the Morwell Innovation Centre, Morwell Victoria, for a lunch event collaboration between The Gippsland Forestry Hub and the Federation University.

The event will feature presentations from FTMA’s Kersten Gentle, Dr. Alastair Woodard (Wood Products Victoria), and Jon Lambert (Heartwood Unlimited), all talking about areas of expertise when it comes to carbon capturing and particularly the future trajectory to support housing, timber and manufacturing, and sustainable forestry.

It’s the official launch of a collaborative project between the Gippsland Forestry Hub, FTMA, Wood Products Victoria, and the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry, on a report – Steps Towards A Greener Future. The report highlights what is needed to be considered for our environmental challenges, and the importance of sustainable forestry and timber construction methods in Australia, with concise and researched findings. Dr. Woodard will be introducing the report, followed by Kersten Gentle talking about the Carbon Warrior approaches of FTMA, and Jon Lambert presenting on the opportunities of carbon farming.

The event forms part of the Federation University’s education opportunities – ‘Fed Friday – Take a Break to Educate – Lunchtime Series’.

Steps Towards a Greener Future is a significant project that FTMA has been working on – supporting our industry and investing in the future of timber practices and the environment. Event Program

• 12.00 pm – 12.30 pm: Lunch will be available in the shared kitchen at the Morwell Innovation Centre
• 12.30 pm: Welcome by MC, including Acknowledgement of Country (5 mins)
• 12.35 pm: Speakers (15mins each)
• 1.20 pm: Q&A with all speakers, panel discussion (25 mins)
• 1.45 pm: Event Concludes, networking in the foyer if desired

Date: Friday 18th October 2024, lunch is available from midday. The event formally commences at 12:30 pm and finishes at 1:45 pm.
